REEF BEACH

before the ban.

It is well documented that families went to Reef Beach for nude bathing from the early 1920s and this practice continued in varying degrees until the early 1970s when it was commonplace to find up to two hundred people going to the beach on the weekend to bathe nude.

Reef beach is situated well over 1 km from the closest residence. Because of its position, it is ideal ly suited as a clothes optional bathing beach.

For over 17 years it was clkearly signposted for nude bathing and it was impossible for the public to access the beach without prior warning of its nude bathing status.

There was a wonderful camaraderie among all the people on the beach.

Reef Beach has been acclaimed the cleanest beach in Sydney Harbour, kept clean by the nudists on the beach.

Reef Beach, Lady Bay, Obelisk and Cobblers Beaches have been and some are still all universally promoted as nudist beaches in Sydney Tourist guides, naturist magazines and travel brochures throughout the world.

The setting for an TV advertisement promoting Sydney in recent days (February 1999) looks suspiciously like REEF BEACH. (The beach where nude bathing is banned!)

Members of the Free Beach Association of New South Wales protested against the ban on Nude Bathing at Reef Beach.

Help PROVE that more nudist beaches are needed for Sydney,
especially (part of) an ocean beach.
Write your opinion here.
I would like to use your comments as proof to the NSW Free Beach Association,
and perhaps the authorities, that many *ordinary folk* would use nudist beaches,
if they were available, where there is easy access and proper facilities and plenty of room.
